Jack Nakamura was born on February 2, 1923. When he was 20 years old Nakamura volunteered to serve in the newly activated 442nd Regimental Combat Team. Army records show that he was 5’2” and 112 pounds when he was inducted. He was later reassigned to the 100th Infantry Battalion, Company B where his older brother Sonsei was already serving. Nakamura participated in four campaigns and was awarded two Purple Hearts.
In 2014 when he was 91 years old, Nakamura handwrote the “Story of My Life.” A friend then typed it for him.
